Office hours are held between 7:30 am and 3pm Mon-Thurs, with occasional evening appointments for your convenience. Sessions are by appointment only. Once made, the appointment is a time set aside specifically for you.
Continuity of care is important when ensuring excellence in psychiatric care. If too many appointments are missed or cancelled, this may disrupt your progress and can make treatment ineffective. Dr. Schacter understands that emergencies do happen and occasionally patients will need to cancel or reschedule appointments. In the interest of all her patients and to keep the schedule open and available should someone else need care, she does require a minimum 24 hour notice for any cancellations or you will be billed at the usual full fee for service. Appointments will also be considered as cancellations after 20 minutes past your appointment time, unless prior notification and approval is made. Referrals are always welcome, but are not required.
If referred, we would greatly appreciate you informing us in advance so we may coordinate care with your doctor or therapist in advance if necessary. Dr. Schacter does not perform psychiatric evaluations for legal purposes such as establishing grounds for a personal injury claim, or for the sole purpose of obtaining social security disability income.
Refills are customarily handled during visits. Please be aware of what medications will need refills prior to the visit. If calling for a prescription, please call ahead and allow for at least three business days for physician to pharmacy communications. Weekends calls for refills will be initiated the next business day. Occasionally, you will be asked to come in for an appointment if Dr. Schacter feels she needs to discuss dosage or change in treatment before a refill is given.
Dr. Schacter can be reached on her office line at 704-847-0424. Patient communication is essential to alleviate concerns and to promote a healthy doctor-patient relationship.
